Thursday, September 29 @ 7:15 a.m. – 7th and 8th Grade Woodwind Morning Rehearsal

BAND NIGHT is THIS Friday night, September 30! This will be for all of our 7th and 8th Grade Pep Band Members. Here’s the details of the event:

  1. All Band Members will need to report to the Middle School Band Room @ 5:30 p.m.
  2. We will leave the band room around 6:15 p.m. to begin making our way to the stadium.
  3. Both the middle school band members and high school band will be seated on the Visitors Side for this game (it’s the only way we can fit everyone into the same seating section)
  4. The middle school band members will play in the stands with the high school band members during the first half of the football game. After halftime, they will be taken back to the Middle School Band Room for you to pick them up. Parents, please be there to pick up your child by 8:15-8:30 (it will all depend on how fast the game moves in the first half)
  5. The high school game begins at 7:00 p.m. Band kids do not need a ticket for the game. Here’s the ticket link for the game for parents/family/friends who would like to attend: https://gofan.co/app/events/626874?schoolId=AL1596
  6. The Middle School band kids will need to wear their Black MSMS Band T-Shirt to the game. They will also need to have their music and instruments
  7. Please have your child eat before the game. We will not be going to the concession stand. We will have waters for everyone.

We will continue our AMEA Concert Prep in both 7th and 8th grade this week.

We had our first belt ceremony with our 6th grade woodwinds and brass on Friday last week. Lots of kids have already passed of their first line, and many more have passed off the second set.

There’s a new addition to the Hood family! Cora Leigh Hood was born at 1:48 a.m. on Saturday, September 24! 7 lbs and 10 oz. & 20 and 1/4 inches long. Both mom and baby are doing well. We are all very excited for Mr. and Mrs. Hood and their family. Welcome to the world , Cora!!! We are so very excited that you are here!!

Here’s a pic of Cora:

While Mrs. Hood will be away for a time, we have Mr. David Wiseman stepping in to help us out. Mr. Wiseman is a veteran band director of 39 years. He retired from Lexington High School this past May. He has already been helping us out in our middle school classes for the past few weeks. We are glad to have Mr. Wiseman here working with us!

We hope you all had a nice weekend!

Seay everyone in the morning!
