Russellville Contest, September 25

This will be the first contest this program, or any program, has attended in two years. I don’t know if I should be excited or anxious. Either way, it’s going to happen and it’s going to be a good night for bands all across our state.

I spoke to directors at Russellville and got an estimated 6:00ish time for performance. Since we haven’t done one of these in a while, I wanted to go ahead and put a schedule together for everyone. Obviously it might fluctuate slightly, but there shouldn’t be any big changes.

Friday, September 24

No game that week as it is a scheduled off week for the football team.

We will rehearse 4th block as well as 1 hour after school.

Saturday: September 25

2:00 Band room opens

2:45 Load trucks and trailers with equipment

Dress into uniforms

3:45 depart for Russellville

4:15 arrive, unload

5:15 warm up

5:45 walk to stadium, stage

6:00 perform

6:30 load equipment, then back to stadium for awards (all band members attend the award ceremony)

OR if we are toward the very end, we will set out equipment in the end zone and go into the stands as a band.

7:00? AWARDS, then back to buses and head back to MSHS

9:00 unload, hang up uniforms, go home

While this is an estimated schedule, it should be pretty close. Percussion and brass members often use Saturday morning to clean and polish instruments, but I wonder if some of that could be done Friday with no game.?

The following weekend, October 2, we will be traveling to Franklin HS in Franklin TN. The schedule for that Saturday will be more involved and an early start due to the longer trip. This will most likely be a late night getting home as well. We usually plan an eating stop during these longer trips.
