MSMS Band Spring Trip Info
Parents and students,
In light of the pandemic, this year’s trip to Atlanta will be cancelled. There is just too much uncertainty surrounding travel and being in places with large groups of people. We know you all have made payments for this trip and we wanted to give you some options as to what you can do.
**Please note! Since we are cancelling this year’s trip, we would like to try again next year. The activities would be close to the same as this year’s trip (concert band performance, Atlanta Braves game, Six Flags, one night in a hotel, and charter bus transportation). We don’t have dates or prices for that trip yet. We will announce those at a later date.**
If your child is in the 7th grade this year, here are your options:
- The money you paid towards the 2020 trip can be applied to next year’s (2021) trip.
OR
- The money you paid towards the trip can be applied to next year’s band fees and fair share.
OR
- You may request a refund.
If your child is in the 8th grade this year, here are your options:
- The money you paid towards the trip this year can be applied to your child’s high school band fees (fees are $325 first semester, $125 second semester)
OR
- The money you paid towards the trip this year can be applied to the Hawaii trip.
OR
- You may request a refund.
Please be mindful that if you do request a refund, the process is quite a procedure and will take time (especially considering the state of the country). There will be no school for the next three weeks, and possibly longer. There will be a lot of paperwork involved in getting that refund to you and it may be up into the summer (or later) before that may happen. There is just so much uncertainty at this point.
When we come back to school, we will distribute forms for you to fill out where you can designate which choice best suits you and your family. Moving money from a trip to fees or to a future trip is very easy. Refunds will take a while to process.
We are sad to have to make this decision, but we feel it is in the best interest of all involved. It was going to be a great trip.
We hope to see you all sooner rather than later! The directors miss seeing the kids! Trust us, we would MUCH rather be at school making music!!
