Here’s your info for the week:
7th and 8th Grade Percussion Morning Rehearsals
The 7th and 8th grade percussion students will be having morning rehearsals at 7:15 a.m. in the band room on Tuesday and Thursday. Parents, please make sure your percussion students are at school those mornings for rehearsal. These rehearsals are very important as we have our first performance this week! Thank you!
First Home Middle School Football Game
Our first middle school football game is this week on Thursday, August 31. This will be our first performance for our 7th and 8th grade pep band. All 7th and 8th grade instrument players need to make sure they have their lyre and flip folder for their music. Each band member will also be given an MSMS Band T-Shirt to wear to the games.

The 7th and 8th grade band members will also be playing at the MSMS Pep rally on August 31. It will be in the gym and start at 2:30 p.m. I would like for all 7th and 8th grade band members to wear their Band T Shirt to the pep rally as well as to the game.
Fall Fundraiser
Our fall fundraiser will kicked off in all band classes this past Monday. We ask each family to sell 7 items. If you are unable to sell any items, we ask that you please pay the $50 dollar fair share amount. (We’d rather have everyone sell items!!). The money we raise from this fundraiser will go to help purchase equipment needed in the Middle School Band Room. This equipment could be chairs, music stands, instruments, music, tables, technology, etc. We have needs every year. We hope that everyone will do their best to get on board with our fundraiser this fall! The turn in date for order forms and money is September 6.
Band Fees
Band fees for the year are as follows:
8th Grade – $100
7th Grade – $100
6th Grade – $85
School Owned Instrument Fee (bartiones, tubas, and percussion) – $50
All of these fees can be paid on the MySchoolBucks App. You may also send cash or check with your child. Please make checks payable MSMS Bands.
We would like for all band fees to be paid by September 29, 2023.
Volunteering for Concessions
We are in need of some volunteers to help us in concession stands this fall. The band runs the concession stands for the middle school games as well as the high school games. Looking forward to another great week. It’s game week for the 7th/8th grade band & middle school color guard! 6th grade woodwinds and brass will continue to work on their lines on pages 4-5 in their essential elements book. 6th grade percussion students will continue their work with Dr. Frederick.
