Info for the week of 4/11 through 4/15

Good morning MSMS Band,

Here’s your info for the week:

ACAP Testing is going on this week. Our band classes will be shorter due to an adjusted schedule so the test can be administered. We will utilize the shortened class times to the best of our ability.

Solo and Ensemble Sign Ups will conclude on Tuesday, April 12 this week. We have to register all students and events by tomorrow afternoon.

The date of the Solo and Ensemble Festival is Saturday, April 30 @ MSMS. This event is open to all grade levels: 6th, 7th, and 8th. We would like to encourage any and all MSMS Band members to participate in this event. It’s kind of like MPA, but at an individual level. Students prepare solos, duets, trios, etc. Then they go play for an adjudicator on Saturday April 30. The adjudicator will listen to them, give them some feedback, and score them. If a child achieves a rating of Superior, they will receive a medal! (gold ribbons for Solos, green ribbons for ensembles). A child can participate in 4 events (1 solo, and 3 ensembles) Mrs. Hood and I will assist the students in their music selections this week.

This event is always a BIG one for MSMS Band. It’s a great way to start to wrap up the school year.

The 7th and 8th grade band will doing a make up performance for the 5th Grade McBride students on Tuesday, April 26. We were unable to play for them as previously scheduled.

Our MSMS Band Spring concert is May 10 @ Muscle Shoals High School. All grade levels will perform at this concert. More info to follow soon!

Jazz Band will meet on Tuesday and Thursday morning this week, 7:15 a.m. – 7:45 a.m.

The All State Band Festival was held in Mobile this past weekend. We had 9 MSMS Band students who auditioned and were selected to the All State Band! Here’s a picture of them right before the concert:

May be an image of 9 people, people standing and indoor
