Good morning MSMS Band,
We hope that all of you had a nice Thanksgiving. We are looking forward to seeing everyone back at school tomorrow!
We have several announcements for the week:
- Our Christmas Concert is Monday, December 6 at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium at Muscle Shoals High School. This concert will include our 7th/8th grade band as well as the MSHS Concert Band. Our 6th grade band WILL NOT perform on December 6. We made this decision after the entire 6th grade went virtual the week before Thanksgiving. This was a lot to ask the kids to do after being out of band for so long. I will be speaking with Mrs. Ritter tomorrow about an alternate date/site for our 6th grade to perform before we get out of school for the Christmas Holidays. Once we nail down a date and location, I will let everyone know.
- The dress for the 7th/8th grade band on December 6 will be our concert black (same as we had for the Veterans Day Concert).
- We will need to have two morning rehearsals with the 7th and 8th graders this week in preparation for our concert on December 6. These rehearsals will take place on Thursday and Friday mornings this week at 7:15 a.m. Parents, please have your child at the band room early on those mornings so we can rehearse. These rehearsals are VERY important. Thank you!
- I will be staying after school until 4:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday this week to work with students who are trying out for Middle School All State. Parents, if your child is trying out for All State, please stress to them the importance of scale and arpeggio memorization.
- Our 7th grade chair tests will begin on Tuesday, December 7. I know we have pushed these back several times. We will FOR SURE start these the day after our concert.
It will be good to be back in class tomorrow. We are looking forward to it!
