From the Podium, 11/29 (schedule)

Good morning everyone. It’s good to be back. We are looking forward to all the performances on our calendar in the upcoming weeks. The semester is winding down and we are in transition mode, but at the same time we are preparing for performances every day. Here is a schedule of events with some details

VIDEO AUDITIONS ARE DUE BY WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 1st! student please submit your recordings by Wednesday evening 7pm.

THURSDAY/FRIDAY LIVE AUDITIONS: Students who do not submit their recordings will do their auditions live on Thurdsay 4th block, or Friday if needed. They will be pulled out of rehearsal by directors. We obviously prefer recordings but we know some will need live auditions.

THURSDAY PERCUSSION AUDITIONS LIVE: All percussion auditions will be live Thursday 4th block and after school if needed for time. All auditions will be tabulated by Friday. The results will be posted on the website after Friday evening. These auditions are for ensemble assignments for next semester (either Wind ensemble or Symphonic Band). All wind and percussion students have been asked to audition.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT MONDAY EVENING DECEMBER 6th at 6:00pm in Stratford Auditorium: The concert will be the full High School combined band and the 7/8th grade combined band. (Due to the 6th grade going virtual prior to Thanksgiving, we will reschedule their concert to a later date undetermined at the time)

Tuesday, December 7th: This will be the first day the two concert bands will split at the high school and begin working on music for future events.

Sunday, December 12 5:00pm WIND ENSEMBLE CONCERT at Parkview Baptist Church, Tuscumbia Alabama. Students, the challenge of this concert will be lack of rehearsal time with a group that hasn’t even been determined yet. Come Tuesday, December 7th we will rehearse with a massive sense of purpose to prepare. We will use some music from our concert along with several new selections…..including Halleluiah Chorus which is not easy.

Monday, December 13th Christmas Parade starting at 7pm. We will meet behind the police department and march in reverse order of the homecoming parade. The night will end after the parade with a hot chocolate in the cafeteria provided by our band boosters.

Winterguard rehearsals will be ongoing the entire month after school on their rehearsal days.

Percussion Ensemble will have two rehearsals before the Christmas break yet to be determined. We will also get our heads together and plan a full day camp in January.

Don’t forget your concert attire for the Christmas Concerts. Tux and Dresses/Concert Black

All students who have not LIFE PE (presidential fitness test) will take care of this on Tuesday and Wednesday December 14-15. This LIFE PE test is what gives all band students credit for PE. This is something every band student needs to have on record to receive their PE credit for band and graduation. If you are in band and have yet to take it (all freshmen and any others) will do this on those days. Tuesday is last day of regular school and we will do the three inside exercises. Wednesday is Study day. We will use that day to run the mile at the beginning of 4th block. After that students are free to check out and go home.
