Good afternoon MSMS Band
Here’s your info for the week:
All State Band Auditions were held Saturday @ MSHS.
It was a GREAT day for many MSMS Band kids!
The following students were selected as 2023 Middle School All State Members:
Rico Chen, Trinity Carruth, Aiden Foster, Caroline Seay, Samuel Butte, Emmie Beth Waters, Lexi Hallman, and Liam McGuire
The following students were selected to participate in the 2023 Alabama Bandmasters Association District 3 Honor Band:
Rico Chen, Trinity Carruth, Aiden Foster, Caroline Seay, Samuel Butte, Amber Willis, Emmie Beth Waters, Laney Beth Tucker, Gian Ramos, Lexi Hallman, Liam McGuire, Caden Jones, and Griff Kinney.
District Honor Band will be February 10 & 11 at Russellville High School. All State Band will be April 27-29 in Huntsville at the VBC.
Congratulations to all these students and thank you to ALL of our MSMS Band students who auditioned! All of you are so much better for working on the tryout material and going through the audition process. Kudos to you!
Shoals Area Honor Band Auditions
Tuesday, February 7 @ MSMS. The start time for Auditions is 5:00 p.m. Everyone who will be trying out needs to let me know by Monday during their band class. Names cannot be added after Monday. These auditions are open to 7th and 8th graders.
Jazz Band Rehearsals
Tuesday, January 31 @ 7:15 a.m. & Thursday, February 2 @ 7:15 a.m. The jazz band will perform at the MSMS Black History Month Program on Friday, February 17.

MSMS Bands (6th, 7th, 8th) Spring Concert – May 2
Solo and Ensemble @ Hamilton High School – May 6 (Open for 6th, 7th, and 8th Graders)
We are crossing Line 100 in our 6th grade band book! Lots of good progress being made with those groups.
We will continue learning some new music for MPA (Music Performance Assessment) in 7th and 8th grade this week. More note and rhythm learning on the two new songs.
