From the Podium: 10/30-11/4

Happy Sunday, evening from the band room,

There’s so much I could say about yesterday that made it so special. This has been an unforgettable season full of special parents and students. Special to the legacy of the Muscle Shoals Band Program and special to me and my family. I will never forget the feeling I had watching last night’s performance. Everything came together. The staff and I could not have asked for a better run. It was memorable for all in attendance. I cried twice. Mostly tears of pride, maybe some tears of sadness that it’s over, that I won’t have this same group of kids to teach next fall, but also tears of excitement. This band is going places. These seniors are going places. Thank you to every parent volunteer that makes trips like these happen.

Muscle Shoals, you did the thing last night, and I couldn’t be more proud.

Here’s what happens next…

We will move into concert band mode. We have a Veteran’s Day concert is just 2 weeks that we have to prepare to perform, and we have our SEUS performance in early February. Every instrumentalist will play for the Veteran’s and Christmas concerts. Auxiliaries that do not play an instrument will have study hall. We still have marching band rehearsals during some 4th blocks while we remain in the playoffs and finish our football season. We will not have after school rehearsals for the remainder of the semester. We also have a Christmas parade to perform.

Percussion Ensemble and Winter Guard will be gearing up very soon! Winter guard auditions are this week after school and next Monday after school.

Performance Dates for the Rest of the Semester:
Veteran’s Day Concert 11/9 (in the evening, time TBA)
Christmas Parade 11/30
Christmas Concert 12/7 (with MSMS)
Football Schedule (11/3 @ Sparkman, 11/10 vs Pinson, 11/17 TBA, etc…)

Reminder about performance attire:
Boys: basic tuxedo (black pants, black jacket, black shoes, black socks, cummerbund or vest, black bow tie, white tux shirt)
Girls: full length black dress, or black pants and black blouse, black shoes.

If you do not have attire by our first performance, you can wear all black. If you are not in second semester band, you will just wear all black.

I am excited to dive into the new! Band never stops… That’s part of what makes it so great!

I love BAND. YWNWA.
