Happy Alabama Championship Week from the band room!

TVI recap: 135 student volunteers, 250 parent volunteers, 19 visiting bands, 2 exhibition bands, 1,800 students on campus. One of the most successful TVI’s to date! Preliminary numbers show us earning $35,000 for the MSHS band students! Thank you to every single person that was able to help and make Saturday a great day. I know how much work, time, planning, and sacrifice you all endured to pull it off. Thank you for loving the band.

Week-at-a-glance:
Monday: 4th block, Guard 3:30-4:30
Tuesday: 4th block, 5:30-8
Wednesday: 4th block
Thursday: 4th block, 3:30-4:30
Friday: 4th block, 5-8 stadium rehearsal (7:50 community send-off performance)
Load after rehearsal

Saturday: Championship Performance
11am – Band room opens
11:30am – Call Time
12:00 – Depart, 3 charter buses (there are about 16 available seats for parents on a first-come first-served basis. I reached out to 6 charter companies and 3 buses was the maximum that I could secure.)
3:00pm – Arrive/unload/dress
5:05pm – Warm-up begins
6:05pm – Championships Performance, load afterward, eat in dining hall buffet (paid by boosters). Parents should note that there is no concessions open, to the best of my knowledge. You can eat at the dining hall or somewhere on/off the JSU campus.
8:35pm – Awards
9:30pm – Depart
12:30am – Arrive at MSHS

Just a reminder, chair audition materials are available in the band room. It will be a video submission. More info will be give to students today on excerpt specifics and submission details.

After championships, we will move into concert band mode, preparing for our SEUS, Veteran’s Day, and Christmas Concerts. Concert attire will need to be acquired for our veteran’s day, and other concert performances. Boys: basic tuxedos, Girls: all black, long dresses or black dress pants and all black shirt. If you have questions on what will work for concert attire, please let me know!
