Last Tuesday night was a special memory for many people. It’s the kinds of memories that only come from passion and performance. Performing without passion is inexcusable in the MSHS band. It’s the heart’s blood of a program built on excellence and high standards. This week is THE week for you to squeeze every little bit of effort into our process.

What you learn from band cannot be techniques alone. You can learn that from youtube videos. What you learn from band has to be more than counts or dots or checkpoints or horn angles or finger twirls. If you think the staff enjoys the daily disappointments and let downs that come from striving for the highest, you don’t get it.

The joy from what we do comes at the end…………the product of a combined effort from so many that could not be done otherwise. A group product that only gets better with a commitment from ALL it’s members.

Music and performance is simply the vehicle and the motivating tool the staff uses to teach you life skills. Skills that we hope will help you be successful in all parts of you adult life. For me personally, I want you to develop a passion for helping others. All the people I know that have a passion for helping others live a wonderful life filled with joy. People I know that do not………………..do not.

“How does band shoes fit into this idea Mr. Waters “. I am so glad you asked. I will tell you at 1:40pm today.

Looking forward to this week. You need to know that the staff is Wired, Fired, and Inspired! You better bring your A game every day!

Also, it’s warm. Bring your water as well.
