Here’s your info for the week:
7th and 8th Grade will perform for the 5th Grade on March 12
All 7th and 8th grade band member will be excused from class on Tuesday morning this week to play for the entire 5th grade class from McBride Elementary School. This is our big upcoming 6th grade band recruiting event. We hope to have a LARGE group of upcoming 6th graders join beginning band for the next school year!
I would like for all 7th and 8th grade band members to wear their Red MSMS Band T shirt that day. Please be locating it! Thank you!
Muscle Shoals High School Plans HAWAII TRIP!!!
This will be an opportunity for our current 8th graders to participate in! Be sure to come to the meeting on Tuesday evening this week for more information!
Middle School Band is SUPERIOR at Music Peformance Assessment
The 7th and 8th grade band had a WONDERFUL performance at MPA this past Thursday. It was an early morning, but the kids were great. SO MANY COMPLIMENTS from our judges about how well the band played.
JOB WELL DONE, band. The directors are very proud of you. Thank you for your hard work leading up this assessment. You are continuing a stellar tradition of excellence for the band program at Muscle Shoals.
Shoals Area Middle School Honor Band
Shoals Area Middle School Honor Band was this past weekend. We had 22 of our middle school band members participating in this annual event.
The put on a great concert Saturday afternoon at Florence Middle School. We are proud of all of our middle school band members who were able to represent MSMS this weekend.
Josiah Valentin, 8th grade percussionist from MSMS, was one of four students from the middle school honor band who was chosen to be awarded the “Outstanding Musician Award” by the middle school honor band clinician, Kim Bain.

Jazz Band to start back
We will start Jazz Band the week of March 18. I will announce practice days and times this week. These rehearsals will take place in the band room before school. More info to come in next weeks post.
Upcoming Dates of Importance
Tuesday, March 12 – 7th and 8th Grade Band will play for the entire 5th grade! (This is our big upcoming 6th grade band recruiting event). This will happen during school hours that day. Kids need to wear their red MSMS Band T shirt that morning!
March 25 – March 29 – SPRING BREAK
April 25-27 – All-State Band in Huntsville
Saturday, May 4 – Solo & Ensemble Festival @ MSMS (6th, 7th, and 8th Graders can participate!!)
Thursday, May 9 – Spring Concert for all MSMS Bands (6th, 7th, and 8th)
Our 6th grade classes are in the middle of their “March Madness”. This is an effort to get as many lines passed off on their “Karate Pass Off Sheet” before the end of March. Students may come in the band room each morning to practice and/or pass off some of their lines. We want as many students to pass off as many lines as possible before the end of month!
