April 5 is the date when school systems have determined we operate on a regular schedule.
Over the next three days, all before school and after school activities are cancelled. This includes Jazz band, percussion ensemble, all private lessons, and students will need to go home Immediately following 4th block. No hanging around the band room folks.
We are living in unprecedented times. This is a great opportunity for all of us to enjoy time spent with family. All of our busy schedules have just been made lighter. Individual practice time would be a great idea over the next few weeks!
Obviously it goes without saying all of us need to practice good hygiene. This would be a terrible time to decide to play others instruments, and a great time to clean your instrument head to toe. Stay healthy band, make smart decisionS, and don’t panic. We have been through stressful performances that help us in stressful times.
The next three school days we will continue with small groups and try to finish auditions the best we can. Remember All absences Monday through Wednesday do not count against your exemptions. The directors say follow your conscious about what to do.
We are in the second inning of This coronavirus baseball game. NOTHING would surprise me in regard to the rest of our semester. As mind boggling as it is, we adapt and move forward the best we can. Patience and the ability to adapt is imperative.
Band is more than playing notes and rhythms. We hope to prepare you for life. Turn this time into quality family time and don’t forget to help others along the way.
…..there is never a bad time to do a good thing.
remember, you will never walk alone!
