This info/email is for Percussion Ensemble members and parents

Good Wedesday morning.

I wanted to send an email with reminders and information regarding percussion camp, scheduled performances, and dues.

Dues: If you have not done it already, please bring your $50 downpayment ASAP. If you could bring it to camp that would be great.

By the end of January, lets get our $100 payment in for that month. here is a reminder of our original payment schedule.

Payment plan

Immediate Downpayment $50

January $100

February $100

March  $100

Our competition/performance dates are still the same. The places may be altered due to host school issues, but virtual performances will be the fallback as a last resort. As we have learned over the past 10 months, you plan and hope, but you never NOT plan.

The biggest day for us will not be a competition at all, it will be our RECORDING DAY! If you have seen our national anthem recording, we will be doing that same professional quality recording for this ensemble, along with others as well. This quality video will be unlike anything we have ever done and the quality will be the best we could ask for. THIS is why we are practicing so hard. It will be a keepsake for all of us years down the road.

Competition Dates:

Saturday, February 6th Mortimer Jordan HS (northeast of BHAM)

Saturday February 20th  Hoover HS, Hoover, AL

Saturday March 6th Thompson HS, Birmingham

Saturday March 20th  Championships, Bob Jones HS

RECORDING DATE: Late March

PARENT HELP NEEDED ON THESE DATES:

Parents, we will need your help. We will need truck drivers and someone to pull the trailer. I know Mr. Allen has and will use his truck and pull the trailer, but we will need parent help with driving the band truck as well as some help pushing equipment on and off the floor at the competitions. I do not know what the situation will be yet with attendance and covid, but I am pretty sure parents will be able to help push equipment and watch the shows. There will be a lot of safety precautions in place I can assure you that. Each school will determine the attendance policy and their own guidelines for safety.

ANGELS AND DEMONS is our show title. The music is based from Angels in the Archecture, a wind ensemble piece by Frank Ticheli. Another song we will do is called “160 Beats Per Minute” from the movie soundtrack

SHOW DESCRIPTION:

She is the Angel of Light! She has come to protect her chosen band and lead them to the chosen land. However, darkness is ever present! These opposing forces of good and evil duel in this epic setting by arranger Dr. Iain Moyer. Darkness rules the night, but light shines brightest in the darkest places!

I am excited for this show, but more excited to see these kids develop their skills and performing skills!

Thank you
