Good evening MSMS Band.
Tomorrow is the big day that all of you have worked so hard for over the last few months! It’s hard to believe that it’s finally here.
Tomorrow will be a very special day not only for the MSMS Band, but for the entire school system along with the community. We talked last night about how many people can really say that they were a part of something GREAT in their lives. Very few…however, the students in this band program can honestly say that they ARE a part of something GREAT! I know some of them may not realize it right now, but when they get older, I hope they look back and see how fortunate they were to be a part of this organization. I know I feel that way about my band experience when I was their age. It took a while for me to understand, but I look back on those times and I certainly cherish those memories.
The students have prepared themselves very well. I feel very good about where the music is. But I hope that at some point tomorrow the kids can take a few seconds and take it all in. Take in the experience and just appreciate the moment. I know I will definitely be doing that. These moments don’t come around very often, for any band program.
Let’s look our best tomorrow. Iron the shirts and pants, take the lint roller to the dresses, shine the shoes, anything that will help us look our absolute best.
The kids have grown so much over the past semester. It’s going to be a great concert tomorrow.
Band is good. It’s good for the kids. It’s good for the school. It’s good for the community. And now we get to take what we do everyday here in Muscle Shoals and show the entire state! What a privilege and opportunity to demonstrate how good band can be.
Get a good night’s rest, everybody.
Seay you in the morning!
