Good morning ensemble members and parents. We have an early morning departure time Saturday at 5:30am. We must arrive for registration at 8:00am and high school performances start at 9am at the Moody Music Building auditorium.
There are 5 groups scheduled to perform. We are the second group following Thompson HS. Remember, this isn’t a competition but exhibition performances by all the different groups. The music is going to be wildly different fro each group. We will be performing “Aether” and “Metheny’s Dream”. We will be using their instruments and will simply set up our set after Thompson. It is a laid back atmoshpere, but obviously with serious performance undertones. We take what we do very seriously as always and I expect our kids to really impress some people.
After our performances, our students get to attend hour long clinics by percussion professionals the rest of the day. Students will need to bring enough money for lunch and we will return home before a dinner stop is needed.
CASUAL BLACK ATTIRE. What does that mean exactly? 🙂
Because of the clinic nature of this event, I don’t want the kids in their tuxedos. Dress nice students (no jeans). I want the main theme of your clothes to be black. Could be khakis and black shirt;black pants ant white shirt, a black sweater, or a hundred other different combinations. Just make sure you have on black somewhere to tie us all together but casual so that your don’t feel uptight all day. Don’t go buy anything, just make it work with what you have.
