Percussion Ensemble contest #1 schedule

Good morning band faMily. This post is for percussion ensemble students and parents.

Our first contest is Saturday, February 6th at Mortimer Jordan high school located northeast of Birmingham. This message will include information and a schedule of the days events.

Friday, February 5th 5:30-8:30 Rehearsal, 8:20 pm send off performance for parents, Load truck and trailers after rehearsal

Friday night, we will have a gym rehearsal with the ensemble as well as 4th block. I will try to get the high school gym, but that is yet to be determined. I WILL NEED PARENTS WHO WILL TRAVEL TO THE EVENT TO HELP US PUSH ON AND OFF THE FLOOR TO BE THERE FOR INSTRUMENT ASSIGNMENTS! That’s right parents, you have a job in this haha. It’s simple, grab and instrument and help push on and off the floor. You still get to watch and hear the group, but you get to play an important role in their success. It’s a timed event so we must stay within the time limit and that is where your help comes in.

If you are going and will help, please plan to be at that rehearsal at 7:30pm. We will practice several times getting on and off the floor so nothing is a surprise Saturday.

Right after our final run through, we will ALL load the trucks and trailers. Dads driving will want to have the trucks there ready to load. I want the kids to do the bulk of the work and you there to assist the students wherever they may need it. They will have assignments. Everything will have a place.

We will not be stopping to eat as restaurants will not cater to us. We will have a parent pick us up some food and bring to the parking lot for lunch. Any percussion parent who could volunteer for that would be appreciated. We will call ahead and you simply pick it up.

Thank you and Go Trojans
