News from the director

Good morning parents. I hope all is well and your summertime didn’t go as fast as mine did!

I wanted to reach out and let you know things are in full swing in the band room…….just without kids around 🙂 We have uniform fittings taking place, two Tuesday night rehearsals prior to band camp in our sights, and a freshmen parent fish fry on the 12th of July. Here are some thoughts going into band camp.

Students should have all of the following every day of band camp (and rehearsals after really)

  1. large water bottle/jug filled with water
  2. proper shoes for marching (tennis shoes not high top) laced tightly
  3. athletic shorts and t-shirt
  4. instrument/music obviously
  5. sunglasses/hats-caps/sunscreen (recommended)
  6. STUDENTS MUST EAT BREAKFAST EVERY DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#6 causes us more issues than any other. Some students come to rehearsal without eating breakfast first and they pay for it. They need the energy to get through these demanding rehearsals. Please make sure they eat even if they aren’t hungry. I promise, they need it.

Parents, we need to know about any medical concerns. Due to the nature of band camp happening PRIOR to school starting, there isn’t a nurse on sight and we don’t have your medical paperwork yet. We need to get that from you ASAP, preferably not the first day of camp but before. The first day is hectic enough already. Thank you

During band camp, we serve 6 lunches. We need help during those days from parents helping prepare and serve.

The best thing you can be doing right now is preparing your kids for band camp. We will be outside, it will be hot, and it will be a grind. Keep them fed with breakfast and send them to camp every day with all the things needed ………and we will give them back to you tired and worn out 🙂

Please visit this site often, look at the calendar of events, and look at the online payments tab and please use this method of payment.

July is here, and that means band is here!
