Good morning band faMily. This is for students interested in participating in the MSHS Jazz Band.
Due to a lack of performance opps, we will be pushing our jazz band start time a little later. We will audition for jazz band right before spring break and start rehearsals after spring break. We will get about 5 weeks on intense rehearsal and plan our very own Jazz Band concert toward the end of the year. After our spring band concert, we will also get some 4th block time to practice.
Our rehearsal days will be AFTER SCHOOL on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-4:30. Audition material will be distributed at a later date.
This jazz band will be a traditional size group not a large group due to the time constraints and jazz band music material not fitting the larger groups.
5 saxes, 4 trombones, 5 trumpets, piano, bass, drumset
Our music selections will be geared toward more modern music with a few jazz band standards. A concert you can really enjoy playing!
