MSHS: Band Camp Week #1 Starts Tomorrow

Day 1 of week 1 begins tomorrow. This day has been well anticipated by the students and staff for so long, and we can’t wait to get started. We will begin at 8 sharp in the band room tomorrow morning, so set those alarms! This week many memories will be made. Remember to come with a hardworking attitude. You will be taken care of, and we need your best effort all week.

Schedule
Monday and Tuesday:
8-11:30 1st Block
11:-12:30 Lunch provided
12:30-4 2nd Block
4-6 Dinner break (Students must leave campus)
6-8 3rd Block

Wednesday:
8-11:30 1st Block
11:30-12:30 Lunch provided
12:30-4 2nd Block

Thursday:
8-1 1st Block

If any parents are able to help with serving lunches, please volunteer here.

Lunch Snacks
Please send these snacks with your band student Monday morning. These will be used during band camp.
Freshmen-box of gummies
Sophomores- box of granola bars
Juniors- box packaged peanut butter/cheese crackers
Seniors- box of chips/cheez its/goldfish

Reminders
Water Bottle (minimum of 64 oz)
Sunscreen
Hats/Sunglasses
Athletic Clothing (please use discretion in clothing, no midriffs should be showing)
Athletic Tennis Shoes (no converse, etc.)
Towel/Yoga Mat
Snacks
Deodorant/Gold Bond
Anything else you find that keeps you cool 🙂
Breakfast – even for our students who don’t normally eat breakfast, we will be doing a physical activity in the heat, making it important for something to be on their stomachs. Please bring granola bars if you skip breakfast. Eggs with bacon and toast is a great meal to start the day!


Student medical conditions: If your student has any medical concerns that the directors are unaware of, that needs to be taken care of promptly Monday morning or sooner. Please do not send students without letting us know these conditions.

Additional info for everyone: Basically do’s and dont’s

  1. Students will not be allowed to leave campus during band camp except during the dinner break
  2. All students need to leave campus during dinner break as they will be unattended.
  3. The staff will keep close tabs on weather, including heat indices and stronger storms. We are also keeping an eye on COVID numbers in our area…
  4. Students may not miss band camp rehearsals except for emergencies.
  5. Students are responsible for cleaning up areas we use on campus.
  6. All students should be fitted into uniform by the end of week one of camp.
  7. Winds and percussion will need to have black socks with their uniforms.
  8. Shoes will be ordered immediately after the last freshman is measured.
  9. The band will receive a show shirt and dry wicking shirt to wear under uniforms.
  10. New students will get band polos this year, the same polo as last year. Vets will use shirt from last year.
