Good morning, band faMily!
First, I wanted to say how proud I was of all the students for their performance Thursday evening. What a memorable night. Thank you to everyone who helped to make the night a success. The icing on the cake is that we raised $1,195 to donate to the American Cancer Society! This is a memory that I will carry with me always.
Second, I want to wish a Happy Mother’s Day to all the band moms out there who take care of each student (and director 🙂 ) like their own. We are incredibly grateful for every one of you.
We have another busy week ahead as we finish the school year strong!
Leadership Team: Essays are due TONIGHT! Clinic begins tomorrow morning at 7:30 in the MSHS auditorium. Students interested in being members of the leadership team must attend fill out the application, attend clinics, and interview with the directors. Be on the lookout for the Interview sign up sheet this week in the band room.
Drum Major: Clinics and auditions will take place from 3:30-4:30 this week.
Percussion Clinics: We are excited to have Mr. O’Bryant with us this week. He will be around during the entire school day and will lead our percussion clinics for grades 8-11 in the MSHS band room after school.
Winds auditions (5/11-5/17):
Wednesday – Trumpets
Thursday – Mellos, Trombones
Friday – Euphoniums, Sousaphones
Monday(5/16) – Flutes, Saxophones
Tuesday (5/17) – Clarinets
Honor Day/Graduation band: Plan to rehearse Wednesday-Friday and all next week.
Jazz Band: We will rehearse Monday-Tuesday during 4th block and will perform Tuesday at the beginning of the MSMS Spring Concert! Our performance at Webster is this Friday at 1:30. We will leave around 12:30. More details about lunch, loading, etc., coming this week.
Color Guard rehearsal Monday from 3:30-5:30. We will also be measuring for fall uniforms!
Next WEEK:
5/16: Juniors plan to stay after school for uniform fittings with Mrs. Banister and her team.
Band banquet 5/17)! Register and pay for tickets here. The deadline is Tuesday, May 10th! We will need help from the leadership team on Monday evening with set-up at Cox Blvd. Church of Christ. Estimated time is 6:00.
5/18: Sophomores plan to stay after school for uniform fittings with Mrs. Banister and her team.
5/19: Honor Day practice at Grace Life Church
5/20: Honor Day
5/25: Load chairs/equipment for graduation
5/26: 7AM – meet at stadium to unload chairs and equipment; 10AM – full band graduation rehearsal; Graduation call time TBA.
