Volunteering for Concessions
We are in need of some volunteers to help us in concession stands this fall. The band runs the concession stands for the middle school games as well as the high school games. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here’s where you can look for more info and sign up if you are able: https://msband.org/volunteer/ Thank you! First Home Middle School Football Game
Our first middle school football game is next week on Thursday, August 31. This will be our first performance for our 7th and 8th grade pep band. I will be sending out more detailed info concerning the game later this week. All 7th and 8th grade instrument players need to make sure they have their lyre and flip folder for their music. Each band member will also be given an MSMS Band T-Shirt to wear to the games.
Fall Fundraiser for Band Starts on Monday, August 21
Our fall fundraiser will kick off in all band classes starting Monday, August 21. Mr. Terry Ownby will be coming to speak to each class about the fundraiser. We will ask each family to sell a certain number of items (will let everyone know next week how many). If you are unable to sell any items, we ask that you please pay the $50 dollar fair share amount. (We’d rather have everyone sell items!!). The money we raise from this fundraiser will go to help purchase equipment needed in the Middle School Band Room. This equipment could be chairs, music stands, instruments, music, tables, technology, etc. We have needs every year. We hope that everyone will do their best to get on board with our fundraiser this fall! Parents-please be on the lookout for a brochure from your child tomorrow! Thanks!
Band Fees
Band fees for the year are as follows:
8th Grade – $100
7th Grade – $100
6th Grade – $85
School Owned Instrument Fee (bartiones, tubas, and percussion) – $50
All of these fees can be paid on the MySchoolBucks App. You may also send cash or check with your child. Please make checks payable MSMS Bands.
We would like for all band fees to be paid by September 29, 2023.
Concert Attire for 7th/8th Grade
Here’s what we would like for the kids to wear for their performances this year.
Boys – black dress pants, black dress shoes, black belt, and a white, long sleeved button down dress shirt.
Girls – (3 options)
#1 (this is preferred) – A long black dress that looks similar to this (please click the link or copy and paste) and black closed toe dress shoes with low heels:
Dresses must have sleeves and a back.
#2 – An all black pant suit (black pants, black blouse with sleeves and a back, black closed toe dress shoes with low heels)
#3 – black dress pants, black dress shoes, black belt, and a white, long sleeved button down dress shirt.
Parents, let’s try to have these items for the band kids by October 23, if at all possible.
7th/8th Grade Pep Band Upcoming Performances
The 7th and 8th grade band members will be performing at the home middle school football games this fall. The dates for the games are August 31, October 3, and October 10.
We are moving right along in all of our classes. 7th/8th grade will continue to work on their pep band music. 6th grade will begin working with their full instruments a lot more this week!
