7th & 8th Grade MPA Morning Rehearsals This Week
We have two morning rehearsals this week:
Brass on Tuesday morning, February 11 @ 7:15 a.m.
Woodwinds on Thursday morning, February 13 @ 7:15 a.m.
Again parents, thank you so much for getting your child to school early on these mornings. We are making progress on our MPA material and these morning practices go a long way helping us to get better!
We hope to know our performance date and time this week or early next week. I will share that info as soon as I can.

February 11 – Brass; 7:15 – 7:50
February 13 – Woodwinds; 7:15 – 7:50
February 20 – Full Band; 7:15 – 7:50
February 25 – Full Band; 7:15 – 7:50
Evening MPA Rehearsal with Full Band
*February 27 @ MSHS in the Band Room; 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.* (this rehearsal will take place in the High School Band Room. We will have special guests with us that evening to adjudicate the band as we prepare for our upcoming MPA Performance)*
NO JAZZ BAND THIS WEEK
We will take some time off from Jazz Band rehearsals. We will start them back up after MPA. The band played well at the Black History Month Program last week!
Shoals Area Honor Band Tryouts Results
We had a GREAT showing at Shoals Area Middle School Honor Band tryouts this past Tuesday! Here’s the list of all who were selected. We are proud of everyone who went and auditioned!
District Honor Band
Our band students had a great time at District Honor Band this weekend! Here’s a pic of all the Muscle Shoals Band kids who participated:
Upcoming Calendar of Events
March 4, 5, or 6 – Music Performance Assessment @ UNA. This will be all 7th & 8th grade band students. They will perform on one of these dates.
March 7 & 8 – Shoals Area Middle School Honor Band @ Florence Middle School (for selected students)
March 11 – Band Recruiting Day for current 5th grade! Jazz Band will play along with the 7th & 8th Grade Band. (will be during the school day)
April 10 – 12 – All State Band in Mobile, AL (for selected students)
April 22 – Shoals Area Night of Jazz @ Florence Middle School (Jazz Band will perform that evening)
April 24 – 26 – UNA Middle School Honor Band (for selected students, more info to come in the spring)
May 3 – Solo and Ensemble Festival at MSMS. (All grade levels may participate in this. More info to come in the spring)
May 8 – MSMS Band Spring Concert @ Muscle Shoals High School (All grade levels will perform)
