Info for the Week of 12/6 – 12/10

Good morning MSMS Band,

Here’s your info for the week:

  1. The 7th and 8th grade band will present their Christmas Concert on Monday, December 6 @ 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium at MSHS. The dress will be their concert attire (black and white, same as what they wore for the Veterans Day Concert). These students will need to be in their seats on stage at 5:30 p.m. Instrument case storage will be in the high school bandroom. The high school band will perform after the 7th/8th Grade band. The concert should end around 7:00 – 7:15 p.m. There is no charge for admission.
  2. The 6th Grade band concert will be on Thursday, December 9 @ 6:00 p.m. in the Commons (cafeteria) at Muscle Shoals Middle School. The 6th grade students will need to be in their seats in the lunchroom by 5:30 p.m. We will have chairs set up in the lunchroom for family members and friends who plan on coming to the concert. We will also have two high school small ensemble groups playing with us on this concert. It will be a great night! The concert attire for the 6th grade band will be the same as what they wore for the Veterans Day concert: nice clothing (please, no jeans, t shirts, or tennis shoes). There is no charge for admission.
  3. We would like to recognize the following 8th grade band students for being selected to the 2021 University of Alabama Middle School Honor Band: CJ Hines, Daniel Geiger, Andrew Hubbert, Sofie Saint, Addison Yarber, and Karley Geijer. They will be in Tuscaloosa this coming Thursday and Friday for the honor band festival.
  4. There will be no All State practice after school on Monday this week due to the concert being that night. I will be staying after school on Tuesday for All State practice.
  5. The Muscle Shoals Christmas Parade is Monday, December 13. The middle school band will not be participating in this event but the high school band will be marching.
  6. Chair Tests for 7th grade band members will start Tuesday, December 7 during band class.

It’s a busy week, but it’s going to be a good one, especially with all the performances we have coming up. 7th/8th grade parents: thank you again for getting your child up to the school early on Thursday and Friday last week for our morning rehearsals. We got a lot of good things accomplished.

Seay you all in the morning!
