Good evening MSMS Band,
Here is your info for the week:
- Fundraiser Items will be delivered the morning of Thursday, October 28. We will have everything sorted by name. The fundraiser items will be placed in the percussion room. 6th and 7th grade students may come by after early dismissal to pick up their items. 8th graders may take their items with them after the Homecoming Parade. Perishable items need to be given to your customers ASAP. If you are unable to deliver your perishable items to your customers on Thursday, please keep them in the freezer at your home until you can. I will be at the band room until 5:30 p.m. on Thursday this week for those parents who would like to swing by and pick up their child’s items. I must leave at 5:30 p.m. as we have a high school football game that evening. ALL the items need to be picked up on Thursday this week.
- 2021 8th Grade Homecoming Parade Info Thursday afternoon, October 28. School will be dismissed at 1:00 on Thursday. 8th grade students can stay after school in the band room on Thursday. If a student leaves campus they should make plans to return by 1:45. The parade begins at 3:00. The band members will be riding on a flatbed trailer of a tractor trailer truck during the parade. Immediately following the parade the truck/trailer will return to MSMS and students will be dismissed from the Band room (approximately 3:30). The students should wear their MSMS Band T-shirt, pants / shorts, and tennis shoes for the parade.
- Our Veterans Day Concert is quickly approaching for all MSMS Band Groups. The date of the concert is Thursday, November 4 in the auditorium at Muscle Shoals High School. 7th and 8th grade band members need to wear their black and white concert attire. 6th grade band members as well as 7th grade beginners need to wear nice clothes for this performance (please no blue jeans, t-shirts, shorts or tennis shoes) We will start combining the 6th graders during third block the week of November 1. The 7th and 8th grade bands will also combine for this concert. We will have some combined rehearsals the week of November 1 with the 7th and 8th, too. More info to follow as we work out the details this week. The concert will being at 6:00 p.m. and there is no charge for admission!
- After school practice/lessons for honor band and all state tryouts will continue on Monday and Tuesday this week. We will end at 4:30 p.m. both days.
- The 7th and 8th grade band will also play at the MSMS Veterans Day Program. This will be held in the MSMS Gym on Wednesday, November 10. I don’t have a specific time the program will begin, but it will be in the morning. More info to follow.
- . The MSMS Band Christmas Concert is December 6. This concert is for all groups and will also be held in the auditorium at Muscle Shoals High School.
- Chair Tests for 7th grade will begin on November 8.
The High School Band competed at the Hoover Marching Band Invitational and came away with several awards. These included all superior ratings, Best in Class Majorette, Colorguard, Percussion and the 1st Place Band Award for Class AAA. Way to go MSHS Trojan Marching Band!!
We’ve got another busy week ahead of us. We are still have lots and lots of folks coming in the band room every morning to practice and pass off (6th Grade!!!!😁😁😁). Let’s keep it up. Good things are happening.
