Good morning MSMS Band!

Here’s your info for the week:

Fundraiser Items to be Delivered this week

Our Fall fundraiser items are scheduled to be delivered on Thursday, October 5. We will have everything sorted by student name. The items will be in the percussion room at the middle school. Students/parents may come by right after school to get their items. The band room will also be open until 5:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon for those that are unable to make it right after school. Thank you again for everyone’s help in making this fundraiser a success!

7th and 8th Grade Home Football Game

Our next 7th and 8th grade home football game is Tuesday, October 3.

The students will wear their 2023-2024 MSMS Band T-Shirt and shorts (it’s still hot…..).

Students should not stay after school because the directors have high school duties. Students should be in the MSMS Band room at 4:30 on these performance days. Parents, please drop students off in front of the MSMS main entrance. Shortly after 5:00 the band will proceed to the stadium and perform from 5:30-7:15. Around 7:15-7:30 p.m. the band will return to the Band room to be dismissed (this is usually shortly after halftime for the 8th grade game). Please make plans ahead of time regarding pick-up after the game.

Water will be provided free to the students.

MSMS Color guard members who are also band members will carry their instrument to the stadium (in the case) and perform with the band in the stands and with the Color guard during halftime.

All performances are MANDATORY. Students involved in school activities that conflict with these performances will be excused (when there is a conflict) but encouraged to join us when their activity is completed. Anyone with an outside of school conflict should contact Mr. Seay and Mrs. Hood so that a solution can be reached – contact should take place well before the scheduled performance. If a student is sick on performance day, the directors must know, so we know their whereabouts! If we are not informed, this could still count as an unexcused absence.

Concession Stand Help Needed!

Concert Attire for 7th and 8th Grade Band Members

Just a reminder that our first concert is November 7. All 7th and 8th grade band members will need to have their concert attire before then. Here’s the info:

Here’s what we would like for the kids to wear for their performances this year.

Boys – black dress pants, black dress shoes, black belt, and a white, long sleeved button down dress shirt.

Girls – (3 options)

#1 (this is preferred) – A long black dress that looks similar to this (please click the link or copy and paste) and black closed toe dress shoes with low heels:

The Pippa Performance Concert Dress is an Adult dress for choirs, orchestras, band, and quartets. Offered by Cousin’s Concert Attire | Style #113

Dresses must have sleeves and a back.

#2 – An all black pant suit (black pants, black blouse with sleeves and a back, black closed toe dress shoes with low heels)

#3 – black dress pants, black dress shoes, black belt, and a white, long sleeved button down dress shirt.

Parents, let’s try to have these items for the band kids by October 23, if at all possible.

Homecoming Parade is October 13

The Muscle Shoals Homecoming Parade is October 13. Our 8th grade band and members of our 7th grade band will be riding on the tractor trailer in the parade that afternoon. There will be an early dismissal from school that day. More info to come in next week’s post.
