Info for the week of 10/18 through 10/22

Good evening MSMS Band,

I’m a little late on posting today….sorry about that. Hope you all have had a nice weekend.

Here’s what you need to know:

  1. 7th and 8th graders need to be finalizing their concert attire. We will wear this concert attire for our concert on Thursday, November 4.
  2. 8th graders will be participating in the Homecoming Parade on October 28. Specific info to follow early next week.
  3. The next chair test for 7th grade will begin on Monday, November 8. Each section will be pulled out of class at some point in the next few weeks and instruction will be given that is specific to their scales and prepared piece.

I spoke with our fundraiser representative last week and he told me that there is a good chance that our items will be delivered sometime the week of October 25. This is later than what we had originally hoped for and we apologize for that. When we get our definite delivery date and time, I will pass that onto everyone.

All State Tryout practices will begin Monday after school this week. This includes a mix of 7th and 8th graders who will be trying out in January. We will also have these on Tuesdays. We will finish at 4:30 p.m. each day. Parents, your child has HOPEFULLY already been speaking to you if they were planning on staying. I will be in the band room with them the entire time after school. We have roughly 12-15 students who will be staying after school on Monday and Tuesday (split up each day).

We had a great day at the 29th Annual Tennessee Valley Invitational this past Saturday. If you were able to come out and watch some bands, good for you! We had TONS of people come to our campus. It was great seeing so may people. If you helped us out, THANK YOU SO MUCH! It was a great day of band.

Let’s get after it starting tomorrow. The countdown to our first concert has begun! Got lots of work to do before November 4.

Seay everyone in the morning!
