Info for the Week 5/16 through 5/20

Good morning MSMS Band!

Here’s your info for the week!

First I would like to congratulate all of our band students on a wonderful job at the concert this past Thursday. Each group played very well. It was a wonderful evening and a great way to wrap up the school year. Thank you parents, friends, family members, and MSCS staff for coming out to the concert. It was a full house! Great to see so many people.

Marching Band auditions for our 8th grade students will continue on Monday and Wednesday this week. All 8th graders planning on being in the MSHS Marching Band this fall must complete their audition on one of those two days.

All students, 6th-7th-8th, will have time set aside this week during class to clean out their locker. Anything left in the lockers over the summer will either be donated or thrown out. If a child plays a school owned instrument, it will need to stay at the middle school band room this summer.

This will be the final week of class for many of our students. If your child has exempted their exams, then they won’t have to come to class the final week of school.

It was good having the newest member of our band staff, Mr. O’Bryant, here with us this week. Mr. O’Bryant worked with our high school and 8th grade percussion members after school each day for their clinic. The drumline and front ensemble spots have now been set. We can’t wait to see how they do this fall! So exciting!

6th grade – this is the final week to make headway on your pass offs! We will have plenty of time during class to get as many lines passed off as we can before we go home for summer! Many of you are very close to Black Belt! Let’s make it count this week. You can do it.

It’s been a great year. I told the kids this week that this is the first school year since 2018-2019 that followed a “normal” school schedule. We did have a few quarantines here and there, but we were in school for the most part of the whole year. This was a big adjustment and a welcomed adjustment for all of us. Hoping for more of the same in the future.

I hope all of you have a great weekend.

Go Band and Go Trojans!

Seay you all on Monday!
