Info for the week 11-9 through 11-13

Good morning MSMS Band!

Due to COVID 19, there will be no in-person Veteran’s Day Program at the middle school this year.  However, some of the teachers have been working on a virtual program that will be sent out to all students and parents this week.  The 8th grade band recorded two songs on Friday last week that will be included on the virtual program.  I’ll make sure to share the link to the program on this webpage as well as on our MSMS Band Facebook page.  The 8th graders put in a lot of work to get these songs ready for the virtual program.  It can be stressful at times when we have to record, but the 8th graders did a really nice job on Friday!  I think they sound great!  We can’t wait for everyone to hear it!

8th grade band members will be starting their chair tests in class on Monday, November 9.  C, F, and G major scales and arpeggios; one octave Chromatic Scale (Concert Bb to Bb), and a prepared piece.  Each student was given this material back in October.  Parents, please encourage your child to continue to work on this material.  We want each student to do their absolute best!

Here’s some exciting news!  We WILL be having a Christmas Concert this year and it will feature all three MSMS Band groups!  The date for this concert is Tuesday, December 15 @ MSHS in the auditorium.  Parents, please keep this evening open.  We have been unable to make plans like we have in the past due to COVID 19, but we are able to say that we can make this concert happen on December 15!  More info will be given out concerning times, concert attire, etc.  Please be on the lookout for this info!

All three groups will be working on their concert music starting this week (7th grade actually started last week!)

Progress continues to be made in all of the middle school band groups.  We are so fortunate that we can continue to meet, learn, and make music.  There are still so many programs around the country that have been unable to do what we are doing.  The directors do not take the time we have with your children for granted.  The kids are doing a nice job.

I hope you all have a wonderful week.  Remember no school on Wednesday this week in observance of Veterans Day.  To all of our Veterans we say “Thank You For Your Service!”.  The time and sacrifice you have made for this country does not go unnoticed.  It allows us to be able to do the things we love!  Thank you so much!

Seay everyone in the morning!
