Happy Sunday, and band camp week #2 eve

Week two begins tomorrow at 8am. We are halfway to the best day of early season band……the end of band camp 🙂

This week similarities:

The schedule is exactly the same for the week adding pictures on Thursday 3:00pm. Obviously, no balloon fight.

Differences: Much more time focused outside learning drill, less music focus, MUCH INCREASED TEMPS!

Everyone be prepared for the temp changes this coming week and the time spent outside. The directors will stay on top of the heat indexes and we will make good decisions. WATER WATER WATER is the word of the week. Don’t show up without it and we are going to drink alot of it.

Something to remember, quarantine procedures and protocols are still in place just like they have been. When exposed and not vaccinated everything is the same. 10 days from first exposure. We have had a couple student sicknesses and exposures, so I wanted to remind everyone of this. Please contact us immediately with any possibly exposures.

THE OPINION OF THE DIRECTOR: What I am about to write is my opinion and my opinion only. It is simply an opinion I would like to share because I have been asked numerous times in the past three days. It is a ZERO percent politically driven opinion. The question I have been asked is “Well, as a parent, what are your thoughts on vaccinating your child? Do you think we should?”

Mr. Waters opinion: To answer the question simply, Emmie Beth is already vaccinated as are Christy and I both. My entire family including my parents, sister, mother and father in law, and grand in laws are all vaccinated. I was eager to get Emmie Beth vaccinated for many different reasons which include hopefully help keep her from catching covid-keeping her in school and not facing quarantines-and an important step for her being able to socialize normally.

Things to know and consider:

1. If a child is vaccinated, then quarantining is not needed as far as the school system is concerned.

2. If a child has been sick with Covid within the past 90 days they do not have to quarantine.

3. Being vaccinated doesn’t mean you will not catch the virus. It’s simply a preventative tool.

4. BIGGIE- A common thread we are hearing from may recent sicknesses is that people didn’t get vaccinated because they had been sick with the virus already. They though since they had been sick they were safe with antibodies. Well, antibodies will keep you from catching it again but only for the time you have the antibodies. Apparently that is different for every person and some wear off much quicker than others. They weren’t against the vaccine, they just thought they would be ok.

I will never tell you what to do. I will never judge you for getting or not getting the vaccine. However, if any of you ever wanted to know my opinion on the matter, there you go 🙂
