From the Podium: 3/6-3/10

Happy Sunday, everyone,

Thank you to those who helped with the pageants this weekend. It was a good weekend for the students who participated, and we were able to raise money for the band program.

This week is really important for our band program as we perform for Music Performance Assessment. Performances take place on UNA’s campus at Norton Auditorium and will last less than 30 minutes. Our students have worked very hard to perfect this music for the audience and judges. We hope to have big audiences, so please attend both if you can! This is the only time we will perform these pieces this year!

Schedules for MPA are below. Students will bring their concert attire (tuxes and black dresses/blouse-pants) to school on the day of their performance.

MSHS Wind Ensemble 

Wednesday, March 8th, 2023 

Location: UNA Norton Auditorium

1:35 – Students report to 4th block to change into concert black attire. Use the dressing rooms behind the stage or restrooms in the hallway.
2:15 – Short rehearsal 
3:00 – Load equipment
3:45 – depart for UNA
4:30 – Wind Ensemble warm up UNA choir room 
5:00 – Wind Ensemble performs
5:30 – Wind Ensemble goes to sight reading room
6:00 – Wind Ensemble receives results from judges
6:30ish – Arrive back at MSHS, unload 

MSHS Symphonic Band 

Thursday, March 9th, 2023 

Location: UNA Norton Auditorium

9:00AM – Students report to bandroom to change into concert black attire. Use the dressing rooms behind the stage or restrooms in the hallway.
9:45 – Load buses for UNA
10:30 – Symphonic Band warm up 
11:00 – Symphonic Band performs
11:30 – Symphonic Band goes to sight reading room
12:00 – Symphonic Band receives results from judges
12:15 – Load and head to CiCi’s for lunch
2:00ish – Arrive back at MSHS, unload and clean

Students in Symphonic Band will need money for lunch!

Shoals Area Honor Band is this weekend: 3/10/23-3/11/23

Friday March 10, Florence High School

Rehearsals

9:00 – 12:00 – High School Band on stage/Middle School, Band room

12:00 – 1:30 – Lunch – (we will have lunch for the kids brought to FHS, or they may bring their own)

1:30 – 2:15 – University of North Alabama Lab Band Concert – in auditorium

2:15 – 2:30 – Break- reset stage, move MS students back to band room

2:30 – 5:00 Rehearsals – same place as above

Saturday: March 11, Florence High School

9:00 – 12:00 Rehearsal (Meet at MSHS parking lot at 8:15 a.m, make sure to bring concert attire.)

12:00 – 2:30 Lunch – (we will have lunch for the kids brought to FHS, or they may bring their own)

2:30 – Concert Warm-up

3:00 – Concert, Florence High School Auditorium

MSMS and MSHS Band students who are taking part in the honor band will be bused over to Florence High School both Friday and Saturday. Honor Band participants will need to wear their concert attire for the concert Saturday afternoon.

Students will ride the bus back to Muscle Shoals High School on Friday afternoon. A bus will be available to bring the kids back to Muscle Shoals after the concert on Saturday or parents may check their child out after the concert if they so choose.
