Great turnout for our first mattress fundraiser. As soon as we know the totals and our profit I will let you know. WE think we sold around 40 mattresses which certainly makes it worth our while. Thank you to everyone who helped or purchased a mattress.
This week is a normal rehearsal week for jazz band, percussion ensemble, and winterguard.
Percussion ensemble: we will practice 4-6 Friday, depart Saturday at 5:30am for the University of Alabama. Our performance time is roughly 9:15am , registration at 8:00am.
Jazz band, we will rehearsal on Tuesday only, with no Thursday rehearsal.
Winterguard, you have normal Tuesday and Thursday rehearsals this week
There are no private lessons this and next week at the high school so that students are in rehearsals every day 4th block.
Next week is Music Performance Assessment hosted at Florence High School. The Wind Ensemble performs at 5pm on Tuesday, March 3rd. The Symphonic Band performs at 5pm on Wendesday, March 4th. The middle school bands perform in the mornings on both days as well.
Parents, I hope you can make the performances at 5pm. The band has worked for the past 2 months to prepare these selections and this will be the only chance they have to perform them. Hopefully, 5pm is a time of the day when you can make it.
Dinner with the band is scheduled for Tuesday, March 17th at 6pm at MSHS. We have hit a snag with our food prep ideas, so we are working through those things. As soon as we get that worked out, tickets will go on sale. At this event, you will get to see and hear performances from the woodwind ensemble, the brass ensemble, the clarinet ensemble, the saxophone ensemble, the jazz band, the percussion ensemble and the winterguard. This events focuses on our smaller ensemble groups and NOT the large bands. Put that date on your calendar and keep an eye out for tickets!
