From the Podium, 10/7-10/11

Good morning band people 🙂 Hope you had a relaxing Sunday. The rain is here! It feels like fall finally and the change of the seasons is finally going to take place.

I wanted to wrap up Saturday’s contest day which turned out to be one of the crazier competition days I can remember. In typical fashion, the MSHS band showed out and impressed a bunch of people including judges, host band members, parents from other schools, and a very large crowd who responded well to the show. Congrats on your best in class awards and Class AAA grand championship. Even though we had to deal with lightning delays, at least we got to perform. The two groups in the largest class did not get that opportunity as we did. Also, the UNA band performance was cancelled as well. And, the bus rides through small roads in the rain to miss the many interstate wrecks was nothing short of exciting. Lessons learned!!

This week and next week, it will feel like “change” in the band room. Not one rehearsal will feel normal this week except maybe Thursday. Here is another reminder of our schedule:

Monday: Concert band rehearsal; wind auditions for Flute, clarinet, trumpet, french horn/euphonium ( IMPORTANT BOOSTER MEETING; TVIMC DISCUSSIONS)

Tuesday: 2:00 performance by the Mississippi State Wind Ensemble, Night Rehearsal 5:30-8:00 practice field

Wednesday: Concert band rehearsal; Trombone, Tuba, low and double reeds, saxes

Thursday: 4th block marching band rehearsal; make up auditions

Friday: Teacher in-service (students out), 5:30 game call in the band room, Home game against Cullman

NEXT WEEK:

Monday/Tuesday: Fall Break

Wednesday: Marching band rehearsal

Thursday: Marching band rehearsal full day; Students Sign up for TVIMC jobs

Friday: Marching band rehearsal; Home game against Athens,

Saturday: HOST TVIMC!!!!! Biggest day of the booster season!
