End of a great week!

Good afternoon MSMS Band!

It’s been a great week! The 7th and 8th grade bands are starting to get their “chops” back! We have been working on fundamental exercises as well as the “Star Spangled Banner”. The percussion have been working with Mr. Waters on their marching drums.

Our plan is to play at the October 1 MSMS Football game. This is a home game against Athens. We typically put out a schedule for the entire year of our performances, but under the circumstances with COVID-19, we have been unable to do that. Parents, please put this date on your calendar.

There is a possibility that we will play at the MSMS Football game on September 17. A decision will be made by the end of next week concerning this performance.

**These performances are for 7th and 8th grade ONLY**

The 7th and 8th grade bands are progressing nicely. It’s nice to get the bands back together again. For those parents who are bringing your kids up to the school for band class, I want to say a special “Thank You” to you. We really appreciate your driving your kids to the school for the class. I know we also have some parents who are unable to bring their kids and that is ok. We look forward to seeing those students in the future!

Tuesday September the 8th is a BIG day for our 6th graders. This will be the first day when they will bring their instruments to class! Our 6th grade students have been going through lessons on Music Theory, note naming, rhythms, and posture for the past few weeks. We have FINALLY reached the point where we can start working with the instruments. This is such an exciting time.

Parents, we have instructed the 6th graders that NO ONE (outside of parents and directors) is to touch your child’s instrument. We have been talking to them about responsibility and safety these past two weeks. The students know that you are giving them a major responsibility in keeping up with and taking care of an instrument that you are purchasing for them. We will continue to stress that to your kids everyday.

The MSHS Trojan Marching Band will be making their debut tonight at James F. Moore stadium! We hope to see many of you there!

Have a great Labor Day Weekend everybody!

Seay everyone on Tuesday morning next week!
