MSMS 7th and 8th Grade Band Performance at MPA
The 7th and 8th Grade band played great at MPA on Wednesday morning last week. They earned all superior ratings on stage and a superior rating in sight reading! This is a MAJOR accomplishment for these middle school students.
We are very proud of them. The time, effort, and dedication that was put in to make this performance happen is very much appreciated. It was an early morning, but the band kids got it done! Job well done, band students!

Shoals Area Middle School Honor Band
The 2025 Shoals Area Middle School Honor Band was this past weekend. We had 29 MSMS band students in the group this year. They worked very hard. We are proud of the efforts they put in during their rehearsal times on Friday and Saturday, as well as the concert Saturday afternoon.
Congratulations to Judson Morris, 8th Grade MSMS Alto Saxophone player, who was given one of “The Outstanding Musician” awards!
Great job everybody!
7th and 8th Grade Band Students to Play for the 5th Grade on Tuesday!
It’s that time of year where we start talking to the 5th graders at McBride about joining the 6th grade band in the upcoming school year. We play for the 5th grade every Spring and talk to them about the opportunities they have by being a part of the band program here at MSMS.
The 7th and 8th grade band, along with the Jazz Band, will play for the 5th grade on Tuesday morning from 8:15 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
We need all the 7th and 8th Grade Band members to wear their black MSMS Band T Shirt for this event.
This is always a lot of fun for the band studentts. We hope to have MANY upcoming 6th graders join us for band in the next school year!
Upcoming Calendar of Events
March 11 – Band Recruiting Day for current 5th grade! Jazz Band will play along with the 7th & 8th Grade Band. (will be during the school day)
April 10 – 12 – All State Band in Mobile, AL (for selected students)
April 22 – Shoals Area Night of Jazz @ Florence Middle School (Jazz Band will perform that evening)
April 24 – 26 – UNA Middle School Honor Band (for selected students, more info to come in the spring)
May 3 – Solo and Ensemble Festival at MSMS. (All grade levels may participate in this. More info to come in the spring)
May 8 – MSMS Band Spring Concert @ Muscle Shoals High School (All grade levels will perform)
Last week was a full week of band activivites. Very successful all around.
