Here’s your info for the week:
Jazz Band Rehearsal
Jazz band will meet and rehearse on Tuesday morning, December 10 @ 7:15 a.m. in the band room.
All State Tryout Practice
I will be staying after school on Tuesday, December 10 until 4:30 p.m. to work with those students who are interested in trying out for the All State Band. The All State Band tryouts will take place on Saturday, January 18 @ Muscle Shoals High School.
Christmas Concert
Our next performace for ALL grades will be Thursday, December 12. The concert will be in the auditorium at Muscle Shoals High School. All of our middle school groups will perform that evening along with the High School Band. The 6th/7th Grade Concert Band will perform first, followed by the 7th Grade Intermediate Band, then the 8th Grade Advanced Band. The High School Band will close out the concert that evening.
The 8th grade Advanced Band and the 7th grade intermediate band will wear their concert attire. The 6th/7th grade Concert band will wear something red, white, and/or green, or they may choose to wear black concert attire.
The concert will begin at 6:00 p.m. There will be no charge for admission. We hope to see many of you there. This will be the final performance of the semester.
The order of the concert will be: 6th/7th Grade Concert Band, 7th Grade Intermediate Band, 8th Grade Advanced Band, High School Concert Band.
The kids need to be at the high school at 5:15 p.m. that evening. The 6th/7th grade concert band will go to the stage at that time. The intermediate band and the advanced band will be in the high school chorus room and the high school band room.
Every band student will need to come down to the middle school band room after school on Thursday to get their instruments and music for the concert. We will take all the tubas to the high school (like we did for the Veteran’s Day Concert).

January 18 – Middle School All State Band Tryouts @ Muscle Shoals High School
February 4 – Shoals Area Middle School Honor Band Auditions (for interested 7th & 8th Grade Students) @ MSMS
February 7 & 8 – District Honor Band @ Russellville High School (for selected students)
March 4, 5, & 6 – Music Performance Assessment @ UNA. This will be all 7th & 8th grade band students. They will perform on one of these dates.
March 7 & 8 – Shoals Area Middle School Honor Band @ Florence Middle School (for selected students)
April 10 – 12 – All State Band in Mobile, AL (for selected students)
April 24 – 26 – UNA Middle School Honor Band (for selected students, more info to come in the spring)
May 3 – Solo and Ensemble Festival at MSMS. (All grade levels may participate in this. More info to come in the spring)
May 8 – MSMS Band Spring Concert @ Muscle Shoals High School (All grade levels will perform)
