Info for the Week of 9/18 through 9/22

Good morning MSMS Band!

Here’s your info for the week:

6th Grade Pass Offs Have Begun!

The 6th grade woodwinds and brass have received their “MSMS Beginning Band Karate” pass off sheets! This is a program we use in the 6th grade classes to help motivate our students to continue to practice on their music, and even look ahead in the book. Students must pass off lines from their Essential Elements Book 1 to receive credit for their playing assignment. Students should always keep up with where we are in class, but they can also work ahead by practicing at home or in the band room before school begins each day! The ultimate goal is to reach “Black Belt” status. There are 10 levels that lead up to the “Black Belt”. As we continue to learn new concepts each week, new challenges will arise for the students to work on and “master”. We are off to a good start with our 6th graders. Parents – please keep encouraging your child to practice their instrument. 15 minutes a day can go a LONG way in their playing development.
