Good Wednesday evening, everyone! We hope you soaked up the last few bits of summer vacation and are ready to enter a great school year.
Our first day of school is tomorrow! We will not be rehearsing outside or after school tomorrow, unlike every other Thursday. The Drumline will change heads after school tomorrow. We have many things to talk about including safety procedures, syllabus, etc. We will play inside if time permits after our meeting, so you will still need your instrument and equipment. We will be going outside on Friday.
When students arrive to school tomorrow morning, you will see your name on a locker. Please put your instrument/music/materials there before heading to homeroom. Just a reminder, the first bell rings at 8:01 and the tardy bell rings at 8:07. The bandroom will be locked between classes, so you should store everything needed for your other classes in your hall locker. Only band class materials will be stored in the bandroom.
Reminder of band schedule: Monday – 4th block, Tuesday – 4th block and 5:30-8PM, Wednesday – 4th Block, Thursday – 4th block and 3:30-4:30, Friday 4th block. This does not include games and competitions which can be found on the schedule.
*All rehearsals and performances are required. If you will miss any rehearsal/school day for any reason, you must fill out the absence form. You can find it on the homepage of the band website. Please schedule doctors appointments for Monday and Wednesday afternoons.
We have a few big events coming up that I wanted to bring to your attention! I will go into much more detail at our 4th block class tomorrow and booster meeting next Tuesday evening.
SnapRaise: Our annual SnapRaise fundraiser begins next Wednesday, August 9 and runs to September 6th. This is the only fundraiser the full band participates in this semester. It is also the biggest and easiest. We will be asking each student to collect 20+ quality emails to submit for the campaign as we ask for donations. I will have more information about email privacy, etc. at our school meeting and band booster meeting! In the past the band has raised upwards of $30,000 during this drive, and we need full participation to be successful. Our expectations are high for student participation in collecting emails and parent participation in sharing our campaign on personal social media accounts.
Band Booster Meeting: Tuesday, August 8th at 6:30 in the MSHS bandroom. We will be discussing SnapRaise, TVI, and more!
