From the Podium: Marching Band Starts This Week!

We are so excited to see you at our first summer rehearsal this Thursday! Marching season officially begins now!

Thursday, July 6th:
Percussion 9-1
All Winds (woodwinds and brass) and Auxiliary (color guard and majorettes) 5:30-8

Students should bring their instruments and water. They should wear athletic clothing and tennis shoes. Students who use school-owned instruments will receive them at practice, please arrive early to get these.

The Hoods are hosting band dad get together at 6PM. Dads, WE NEED YOU this season. Come on out and learn what it’s all about.

Auxiliary Staff Announcement:
Vanessa Borelly Vega has moved into an auxiliary coordinator role. She is working hard behind the scenes to make sure all of our auxiliary moments look fabulous!

Color Guard
Jacqueline Goodwin will be returning as choreographer and instructor this year. Jacqueline has done amazing work with our middle school and high school guards the past 3 years, and we are excited to have her back!

Kristin Bobo is a Missouri native and a graduate of Warrensburg High School in Warrensburg, Missouri. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of Central Missouri in May 2017, where she was Drum Major of the Marching Mules her sophomore, junior and senior years. Upon graduation, Kristin served as a general music teacher for grades K-5 at Gerald Elementary School in Gerald, Missouri.  She then relocated to be closer to her family and welcomed a new position as Band Director at Warsaw High School in Warsaw, Missouri. While in Warsaw, Kristin oversaw the instrumental music program including: marching band, jazz band, pep band, color guard and the middle school (6th-8th) grade bands.

In 2019, Kristin met her husband, Shane, and together they welcomed their daughter, Lynsey, in August of 2020. In her free time, Kristin enjoys spending time with her friends and family, boating on the river, and participating in local events with her Jeep group, the Quad Cities Wranglers.

Aliyah Merchant: “Hey everyone, my name is Aliyah Merchant. I am from Helena, Alabama, right outside of Birmingham. I am an upcoming senior at UNA with a major in digital marketing. I have been twirling my whole life, and twirled with the UNA Marching Pride for three years, serving as captain my last year. I am so honored and excited to work with the you guys this year!”
