Good morning MSMS Band!
Here’s your info for the week:
Fundraiser Items will be delivered to the school on Tuesday morning, November 1. We will have these items sorted by student name in the percussion room. Students may come by after school to get their fundraiser items. I will be in the band room until 5:30 p.m. that evening for parents who would like to come by and pick up their fundraiser items. Cookie Dough will need to be delivered ASAP, (it will be frozen when it arrives). If you are unable to deliver it right away, please keep it frozen at your home until you are able to deliver it the folks who bought it from you.
We will have one Thursday morning rehearsal this week for 7th/8th grade. It will be on Thursday morning, November 3, at 7:15 a.m.
Chair tests for 8th graders will begin on Monday, October 31 and will continue during class throughout the week.
Tuesday, November 8 will be our first concert of the year. This is our Veterans Day Concert held at the MSHS Auditorium. The concert will begin at 6:00 p.m. The 7th/8th grade band along with the MSMS Chorus will start the program, followed by our beginner groups. The 7th/8th graders will need to wear their concert attire. The 6th/7th/8th grade beginner students will need to dress nicely for this concert (no blue jeans, please!) Dress pants, polo shirt/button down dress shirt (tucked in) nice dress shoes for the guys. Ladies may wear the same (may wear a nice blouse in place of polo/button down shirt) or a nice dress. Ladies may wear nice dress shoes, but the heels need to be low. We need to stay in dress code for this performance.
There is no charge for this concert.
Wednesday, November 9 will be our Veterans Day Program at MSMS. The program will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the gym. The 7th/8th grade band will play for this event. The band students will need to wear their Band T-Shirt for this program along with long pants.
Upcoming Calendar of Events:
November 11 – No School/Veterans Day
November 21- 25 – No School/Thanksgiving Break
December 13 – Christmas Concert @ MSHS
After the Thanksgiving break, we will need to have a few evening rehearsal with the 7th and 8th grade band. These rehearsals will take place in the band room at MSHS. Once those dates and times have been determined, I will share those with everyone.
November is almost here. Our AMEA performance is getting closer and closer. The kids have been working very hard on the music. We have made a lot of progress, but we still have some work left to do.
I think our concert at AMEA in January will go very well if we keep working and improving our music.
Have a GREAT weekend everybody.
Seay everyone on Monday!
