Good afternoon MSMS Band!
Here’s your info for the week:
- Jazz band will meet on Tuesday and Thursday mornings this week @ 7:15 a.m. Those wishing to audition for the solo will audition on Wednesday morning before school.
- 6th Grade Band members will meet together for the entirety of 3rd block on Friday. This is to get both classes together to get ready for our concert next week.
- 7th and 8th grade band will meet before school on Friday this week @ 7:15 a.m. to get ready for our concert next week.
We had MANY superior and excellent ratings that were achieved yesterday at the ABA District 3 Solo and Ensemble Festival. We will be handing out score sheets to all who participated and medals to those received a superior rating for their event. We will post the those numbers later this week, but, trust me, there were a lot! It was good to see SO many MSMS Band students participating in this event.
Our Spring Concert is Tuesday, May 10 in the auditorium at Muscle Shoals High School. The start time is 6:00 p.m.
Here’s the concert lineup:
- Middle School and High School Jazz Bands
- MSMS 6th Grade Band
- MSMS 7th and 8th Grade Band
I will send out a more detailed schedule later this week about the evening of the concert. This week is our last big push. After the concert next week, we will turn our attention to music for the fall for our current 6th and 7th graders. Our current 8th graders will be working on their audition music for the High School Band.
8th grade percussionists will have their week long clinic for High School Marching Band starting on Monday, May 9. Packets were distributed to them about 2 weeks ago. If anyone needs another packet, please come see me ASAP and we will get that taken care of.
The high school band banquet is scheduled for Tuesday, May 17. Please remember that our 8th grade band members are cordially invited to attend!
It’s hard to believe that the school year is winding down! It’s been a great one for MSMS Bands. We will continue to work on things right up until school lets out for the summer.
You won’t want to miss our concert next week! It’s going to be great!
Seay everyone in the morning!
