Good afternoon MSMS Band
I want to start this post by letting everyone know that Tidus Hollander is improving. Through text messages this morning, I communicated with his mom and she told me that he had been moved to the step down unit. He is off of the oxygen. The doctors are now able to begin focusing on all of his other injuries that will need attention.
I know everyone shares the same sentiment towards Tidus and his recovery. We are very thankful and grateful for this good news. Please continue to pray for Tidus and the family. I know they would appreciate it.
We will not see the students back in class until Wednesday, February 23.
7th and 8th grade band members: We will make up the evening we lost last week due to bad weather this coming Thursday, February 24. We will follow the same schedule as before. The kids will need to meet in the high school band room at 5:30 p.m. Mr. Pat Stegall and Mr. Terry Ownby will be able to join us that evening. We will end around 8:00 p.m.
We will continue to have our 7th/8th grade Thursday morning rehearsal this week at 7:15 a.m.
Thursday will be a full day of band for the kids. I know it will be productive.
Our MPA Performance Date and Time has been assigned:
What: Music Performance Assessment
When: Wednesday, March 9 @ 8:00 a.m. (this is our performance time)
Where: Norton Auditorium @ UNA
Who: 7th and 8th grade band members
We will take the kids on buses over to UNA the morning of March 9. They will need to wear their concert attire when they arrive at school that morning. The kids will need to eat breakfast before they come to school that morning as we will leave before the cafeteria opens. They may bring a change of clothes with them to change into once we come back to MSMS.
The band room will be open at 6:15 a.m.
The buses will leave at 6:50 a.m.
We will get to UNA relatively early that morning. This will give us time to get on stage, warm up, and let the kids get used to playing in a different environment.
Anyone may come and listen to the bands play at MPA. There is no charge for admission. However, parents will need to remain in Norton Auditorium. Once the band leaves the stage, they will go into another room to perform the sight reading portion of the assessment. No one but band members, directors, and administration may go into the sight reading room.
When we are finished, we may have a little bit of time to listen to some other bands before heading back to school. We will have the kids back at school in time for them to go lunch.
I will post a lineup of all the bands who will be performing at MPA from March 8 through March 10. Be on the lookout for that next week.
Shoals Area Middle School Honor Band will be March 11-12 @ Muscle Shoals High School.
We will post more info on this event as we get closer to it.
6th grade band members need to keep on working through their pass off lines. We have students who are getting close to black belt status!!! These students are making good strides in their learning and playing. Keep it up, folks!
We hope everyone has a nice weekend!
Seay everyone on Wednesday!
