*Just a reminder that 7th and 8th graders will have rehearsal in the morning, Thursday February 10 at 7:15 a.m. The goal is for us to make it through the first two parts of our second MPA song. I think we can do it!*
Thursday, February 17 was originally slated for a Winter Concert. We are going to put the concert on hold for now. However, that evening, we will still utilize the high school facilities for our 7th and 8th grade band. Instead of a concert, these students will meet in the high school band room for a special evening rehearsal/PRE MPA preparation. We will have two ABA Certified Band Adjudicators coming to work with the band that evening. Many of you may know these gentlemen: Terry Ownby and Pat Stegall. We feel that it is in the best interest of the 7th and 8th graders, as they have never been through a true MPA experience, to have this evening set aside for this valuable feedback coming from these gentlemen. I would like the 7th and 8th grade band students to be in the band room that evening at 5:30 p.m. We will finish our rehearsal by 8:00 p.m. We will provide water and snacks for the kids during our break time, as well.
The kids do not have to wear their concert attire to this event.
This upcoming assessment in March is the most important performance of the year for our 7th and 8th grade band students. The kids are working hard and making progress, for sure. We as directors want to do as much as we can to prepare them before they go play at the assessment. We want them to be confident in what they are doing and ready to meet the challenge.
The evening of February 17 will be invaluable in our preparation for our upcoming assessment in March.
Parents, thank you in advance for working with us on this. This doesn’t happen without your support.
