Info for the week 2/7 through 2/11

Good morning MSMS Band. Here’s your info for the week!

  1. Shoals Area Middle School Honor Band auditions are this Tuesday, February 8 @ Florence Middle School. We have 32 students signed up to try out!! The auditions start at 5:00 p.m. There is no individual audition time. The students will just find their audition room and wait in line until it is their turn to perform. All students auditioning will need to have their own transportation to Florence Middle School that evening as we will not be taking a bus. Here’s a map for parking:

Here is a map of the inside of the school, showing where each tryout room is located:

The tryout results will be posted on this website at the conclusion of auditions on Tuesday evening: https://shoalsareaband.weebly.com/

All students auditioning will need to come get their instruments and music before they leave school on Tuesday afternoon….AND BRING THEM BACK TO SCHOOL WEDNESDAY MORNING!!! 😁😁

2. District Honor Band is this Friday and Saturday, February 11th and 12th, at Russellville High School. Here is the schedule/info for both days:

8th grade DHB Members: Kevin Cai, Bryson Hill, Andrew Hubbert, David Nicolasora, Canaan Williamson

7th grader DHB Members: Liam McGuire, Caden Jones, Emmie Beth Waters, Gian Ramos, Rico Chen, Trinity Carruth, Aiden Foster, Samuel Butte

One of the directors will be with the kids at all times. I have emailed the kids teachers and they know they will be gone from school on Friday. The students will need to reach out to their teachers and see if there is any work that they will miss and need to make up (or finish before they leave).

3. 7th and 8th graders will have a rehearsal this Thursday morning, February 10 at 7:15 a.m. We will continue our MPA preparations. We had a great rehearsal last Thursday morning. That trend needs to continue!

4. There is a possibility that our original date for the Winter Concert may be changed. It was originally scheduled for February 17. Missing the 6 days from band back in January has put us behind. The directors are weighing potential options/dates/venues. When we come to a decision, we will pass that onto everyone. We will make that call this week.

It’s a busy week ahead for many of our band students.

Seay everyone in the morning!
