Welcome to the second semester! The band will hit the ground running with Music Performance Assessment preparations. 4th block will now be split ensembles until our performance with the Symphonic Band and the Wind Ensemble in early March. Mrs. Hood will rehearse the Symphonic band in the band room and Mr. Waters will rehearse the Wind Ensemble in the Small ensemble room next door.
ALL STATE AUDITIONS: Theywill be here before you know it. Saturday, January 29 is the day and all students auditioning will need to make sure they are signed up by Friday. That will be the absolute last day. So let’s get that done Thursday.
SHOALS HONOR BAND: Auditions are Tuesday, February 1. Normaly we host auditions at MSMS, but this year they will be at Florence middle school. Students will learn their audition times and be responsible to be at Florence for their audition. This is not a school bus trip but an individual trip.
BOOSTER MEETING: Our first meeting of 2022 is Tuesday January 11th at 6:30.
WINTERGUARD: The winterguard has rehearsal Tuesday and Wednesday from 10-6pm at MCBride gym
PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE: The percussion ensemble has rehearsal Wednesday from 10-1, and 3-7 in the band room. Lunch from 1-3 all students are on their own.
The January return is always a welcomed time with the directors. Students usually come back with a refreshed approach to learning and the directors recharged from the break. While it wont sound great at the start, the key is it begins. Every journey begins with the first step and that is about to happen. Looking at the music selected for all the groups this year, it should be a very enjoyable ride.
