Good evening MSMS Band!
I hope many of you are now “Subscribed” to the website and are starting to receive email notifications when we post on www.msband.org.
We made it through Day 1 on Friday. In each class, we went over the handout that we passed out last week during the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade meet and greet day. It’s also the same stuff I placed on the website last week.
Upcoming events this week:
7th and 8th grade will start working on Pep Band music. We have A LOT of music to go over as our first home game performance in August 26!! For the next two weeks and change, this music will be what we will be working on. This is, BY FAR, the earliest we have ever had a home game (at least since Fall of 2018!).
We will post info concerning the particulars of August 26 the week of the game.
6th grade will do review from Kickoff Camp. If your child did not participate in kickoff camp, it’s no problem. We will treat the first few days like everything is brand new to everyone. This will help for everyone to get caught up. If your child has not instrument tested, we will take care of that in class this week. If your child knows what instrument they will be playing (based upon instrument testing and director recommendations), and still have not gotten an instrument, we need to get that taken care of ASAP.
The 6th grade woodwinds (flutes, clarinets, and saxophones) will primarily be working with Mrs. Hood each day during 5th period. The 6th grade percussion will primarily be working with Mr. Waters each day during 5th period. The 6th grade brass (trumpets, trombones, baritones, and tubas) will primarily be working with Mr. Seay each day during 6th period.
There are still a few students who need to have their schedule adjusted from Friday. We are working to make sure every kid is where they need to be when it comes to band. We hope to have it all fixed this coming week.
Parents, please go online to www.msband.org, click “Resources”, and then click “Medical Form”. We need to have this filled out for each student: 6th 7th and 8th. By filling out the medical form, you will also let us know your child’s t shirt size. Each child, 6th 7th and 8th, will be receiving a 2021-2022 MSMS Band T Shirt. We must place the order this week in order to get the shirts by August 26.
All band fees are due by September 30. Please send a check or you can pay online. Please refer to the previous post for fee info for you child (https://msband.org/back-to-school-info-lots-of-info/)
There will be lots of instrument playing in the bandroom this week! Let’s get after it and get some work done!
Seay everyone in the morning!
