I’m sure by now many of you have seen or heard that both MSMS and MSHS will be going virtual next week. The teachers will still be coming to school during these days, too. Extracurricular activities will continue which means our Christmas Concert on the 15th is still a go!
Here’s the info that each group needs to know
8th Grade and 7th grade: Each student will need to come by the bandroom at some point on Monday or Tuesday before 3:00 p.m. to get their instrument, music, and/or tickets. The directors will take the tubas to the high school as we discussed in class. Once each 7th and 8th grader has their instrument and music, all they need to do is follow the original schedule for the concert Tuesday night.
6th Grade: We had planned for both 6th grade classes (3rd and 4th period) to combine during 2nd block on Monday and Tuesday of this coming week. This would give the kids a chance to see, hear, and feel what it would be like during the concert when they all play together. These two days were very important for their concert preparation.
That being said, we would like to have a rehearsal with all the 6th grade band students on Tuesday December 15 during their normal 2nd block time. If you are able to get your child up to the bandroom during that time it would be GREATLY appreciated. We would rehearse from 9:45 am to 11:00 am. That would give the students time to get back to their 3rd block virtual classes which would begin at 11:22 a.m. We don’t normally do things like this but this pandemic has once again thrown our schedule for a loop. I feel that being able to get the entire 6th grade together one time Tuesday morning before they play Tuesday night will help them to perform their best. These students have worked very hard and we want to put them in the best position to be successful Tuesday evening. I do understand that bringing your child to the school during that time may prove to be difficult. If there is ANY way possible to get your child to the rehearsal, it would be wonderful. Please know that under normal circumstances, we would never ask for anything like this. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. My email address is dseay@mscs.k12.al.us
When the 6th grade students leave at 11:00 am Tuesday morning, they would take their music and instruments with them. As with 7th and 8th grade, the directors will take the tubas to the high school. After the Tuesday morning rehearsal, the 6th graders would need to follow the schedule put out last week. (Be in their seat at 5:30 pm in the auditorium at MSHS, wearing their concert attire, along with their music and instruments.)
Again, if any of you have any questions, please call the school or email me.
Thanks so much and have a nice rest of the weekend!
