Info for the week of 10-5 through 10-8 PLUS 7th and 8th grade Performance

Good morning MSMS Band!

First I would like to say that I thought the 7th and 8th grade band did a nice job at the football game last Thursday. During these times of quarantining and uncertainty, I was very thankful that we were able to go and perform. There are band programs all over the country that are unable to do what they normally do. Some band programs have yet to meet in person. I’m so thankful that we are able to meet, practice, and perform. Each chance we get to play is a blessing.

Parents, thank you for bringing your kids to the school on Thursday afternoon for the performance. Everyone who was at school on Thursday was at the game! Perfect attendance! It looked good seeing all the kids up in the stands.

We have another performance coming up this week for the 7th and 8th grade band. On Thursday, October 8 @ 7:00 p.m., both the 7th/8th grade and high school bands will be having an outdoor community performance at James F. Moore Stadium. There is no charge to attend this event.

7th and 8th grade band students will need to wear the same thing they wore to the football game last week: Band T-shirt, jeans/short, tennis shoes. The kids will need to be at the middle school band room at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday evening. We will move them into the stadium around 6:15 p.m. and the performance will begin at 7:00 p.m. with the 7th/8th grade band playing the Star Spangled Banner. The 7th/8th grade band will start off sitting on the visitor side. Once they have completed their portion of the performance, we will then move them over to the home side so they can see the high school band march the 2020 Halftime show “Corazon”. The event should conclude around 8:00 p.m. We will then escort the kids back to the middle school band room so they can pack up their stuff. They will be released to their parents after that.

Our fall fundraiser is entering it’s second week. We are asking each family to sell 5 items. Order forms and money are due back on Tuesday, October 13. This is for all MSMS Band members, 6th grade, 7th grade, and 8th grade.

6th grade band students: WE HOPE YOU ARE PRACTICING!! We’ve made some good progress so far! KEEP PRACTICING!

It’s going to be another great week. I hope all of you are safe, well, and have had a nice weekend. Thanks for everything!

Seay everyone in the morning!
