I hope you had a chance to watch the live video this week. It was a pleasure to speak to you and to deliver what we believe to be good news regarding next years band.
You will find dates and information in this post. Please put these dates on your calendar and read over carefully the information.
May 11th ——–roll out of all audition material for winds, percussion, guard, and drum major. We will post all of it right here on our webstie. We could use your help contacting anyone you think is not regularly keeping up with this website. Students, contact your band friends to make sure they have received this information.
May 22——-SHOW REVEAL VIDEO DAY
June 8-12—–Drum major clinic and auditions morning time, Colorguard clinic and auditions afternoon. We will be using strict social distancing guidelines during this time. We will likely use an abundance of extreme caution. We will give detailed information prior to the clinics.
June 15-19—–Wind and Percussion Marching/Concert Auditions. We will schedule students in small groups to come audition at the school. We will have strict social distancing guidelines in place and students MUST stick to their audition arrival and departure times. Wind players, audition on your concert instruments and we will distribute your marching instrument immediately following your audition. Percussion, you will audition on a snare or on a marimba. I will use the snare audition to place students on battery instruments and rack players in the front ensemble.
June 22-26——Make up wind and percussion auditions if needed. We need EVERYONE to audition before this week, but only for emergencies will we use this week.
July 13-30—–We will have small section groups rehearse. Those exact times and days will be determined at a later date. We have our fingers crossed some of the restrictions will be lifted and we can meet in slightly larger groups. None the less, we will meet regardless.
August 3-7, August 10-14—– POSSIBLE BAND CAMPS WEEK 1 and 2! Dr. Mackey suggested schools to open a few weeks later than originally planned. We hope this will allow us to have a band camp during these two weeks. We will meet 8-11:30am and come back 6-9pm. There will be no afternoon block and we will meet on Fridays. If school start doesn’t get changed, then we will start full day day one of school. If we aren’t able to meet as a full band, then we will continue with small groups until school starts.
Football season?——We anticipate football will happen, maybe delayed start and eliminate a game or two. I do not believe the season will extend later in the year. I do not know how JV and middle school games will be effected at this time.
October 17—–TVIMC! We will be hosting our own contest this year again. Please put this on your calendar.
I do not have any dates yet for marching contests. I don’t even know how many local ones will happen, but as soon as I know I will let you know.
Time to get excited folks! The staff is hard at work designing a product you will be happy with. Our show will be shorter (5:30 minutes rather than 7:15) but should be like we are use to.
Parents, these times call for flexible schedules. I know you have plans that changed due to the virus, but the staff is going to be as flexible as possible and will need to ask the same of you.
