6th grade Students and Parents

We are so excited for this group of students! This is the week of their very first band concert! Things are going very well and we can’t wait to play for everyone!

We will be talking to the 6th grade band students in the morning about a new assignment for them and you (parents).

Here are the details of this assignment: All 6th grade band members have the assignment of teaching a parent, etc. to play #14 (Mary Had a Little Lamb) out of his/her Essential Elements For Band Book. We believe if you can teach someone to do something you truly understand it yourself.

This will make the student demonstrate and evaluate you on the following:

-Putting the instrument together

-Holding the instrument

-Forming the embouchure (mouth position)

-Reading/Playing the notes

The parents, etc. will PERFORM at the Premier Performance on November 7th!

PLEASE PARTICIPATE!!!!! This is not meant to be extra work or embarrassing to the parent. It is intended to get you and your child working together and sharing a love/respect for music!

The 6th grade will be the final group to perform at the concert on Thursday night and this “assignment” will be the final performance of the evening. When prompted, please come up to the stage and you will take your child’s seat in the band and we will give you instructions from there!!! Your child will LOVE IT!
